How money works on Tulo

Plain language, no fine-print games. This page is the single source of truth for what is paid, by whom, to whom, and what Tulo never touches.

The short version

  • Your stay is paid to the property, directly. Tulo never collects, holds, or passes on accommodation money.
  • Bed seekers pay Tulo one thing only: a small reservation fee when placing a booking through the app, shown before you confirm.
  • Properties pay Tulo a flat monthly subscription. No commission on rooms; the property keeps 100% of what guests pay it.
  • In-app payment is currently switched off while our payment-provider integration is completed. Until it is live, booking through Tulo costs you nothing.

1 · What bed seekers pay

When you place a booking in the Tulo app, Tulo charges a small reservation fee (also called a convenience fee). It is displayed clearly before you confirm, it is paid to Tulo for the booking service, and it is the only amount a bed seeker ever pays through Tulo.

The price of the accommodation itself (the number on the listing) is paid by you directly to the property, normally on arrival, by whatever means the property accepts. That transaction is between you and the property; Tulo is not a party to it and takes no share of it.

2 · What properties pay

Accommodation providers pay Tulo a recurring monthly subscription for their listing and the Tulo Console (front desk, room rack, bookings, reports). There is no per-booking commission and no percentage of room revenue. A property's guests are its own customers, and its room money is its own.

3 · Who processes payments, and where money goes

Every payment made through Tulo (the guest reservation fee and the provider subscription) is a payment to Tulo, for Tulo's own services, processed by our payment provider and settled to Tulo's own account. Tulo does not operate an escrow, does not aggregate funds on behalf of properties, and does not pay accommodation money out to anyone. In payments terms: Tulo is a merchant collecting its own fees, not a marketplace holding third-party funds.

4 · Current status of in-app payment

The payment features above are built into the app but are currently disabled while we complete our integration with a payment provider. While disabled, placing a booking through Tulo is free: no reservation fee is charged, and you simply pay the property for your stay. This page will be updated when in-app payment goes live.

5 · Your booking, your stay

A booking made through Tulo is a reservation with the property. The contract for your stay (the room, the price, house rules, cancellation terms) is between you and the property. Tulo verifies listings (a person checks photos, pins, and phone numbers, and we display the official ZTA licence where one is published), but Tulo does not operate the properties listed. For what happens when plans change, see refunds & cancellations.

6 · Your data

We collect the minimum a front desk needs to hold a bed: name, phone number, and ID details for check-in. We do not run ad tracking. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

7 · Questions
