Inventory concepts

Five ideas make your property bookable: room types, rooms, rates, availability, and the go-live switch.

Room types

A room type is a kind of room you sell, not an individual door. 'Standard Double', 'Executive Suite', '6-Bed Dorm' are room types. Prices and availability are set per room type.

There are three ways a room type can be sold. Private: the guest books the whole room ('Standard Double'). Shared: the guest books a bed in a dorm, and you say how many beds each room has. Entire place: the guest books the whole property or unit ('Lake House'), optionally with a one-time cleaning fee.

Rooms

Rooms are the physical units behind a room type: Standard 1, Standard 2, Standard 3. The console assigns a specific room automatically when a booking is confirmed, and your front desk can reassign at check-in.

Rates

A rate is what one night costs, per room type, per date. You set rates across a whole date range in one action ('K450 a night for the next 90 days') and can adjust individual dates later, e.g. for peak weekends.

Rates are in Zambian Kwacha. The guest sees exactly what you set; they pay you at the property.

Availability

Availability is how many units of a room type can be sold per night. If you have 5 standard rooms but keep one for walk-ins, set availability to 4. Confirmed bookings reduce it automatically; cancellations give it back.

No availability on a date means the date cannot be booked in the app. That's your stop-sell lever.

Restrictions

Optional rules per date range: minimum stay ('at least 2 nights on holiday weekends') and stop-sell (block app bookings while keeping the dates open for your own walk-ins).

Going live and pausing

'Accepting reservations' is your property-level switch. Off means the app shows your listing but won't take bookings; on means bookable wherever rates and availability exist. Your walk-in and phone reservations in the console work regardless of this switch.
